Lava Cap Winery

Winemaker: Nolan Jones

Lava Cap is a family-owned winery in Placerville, California. The Jones family planted their first vines in 1981 and opened the winery in 1986 on a special site in the heart of the Sierra Foothills. The family of geologists specifically selected this location for its prime volcanic soil that is particularly well suited to growing fine wine grapes. They named their new business after this unique "lava cap," where their grapes flourish in the volcanic soil, warmed by the foothill sunshine and cooled by gentle Sierra night breezes.

Beginning with the first vintage in 1986, Lava Cap wines continue to win a steady stream of gold medals and awards from across the country each year. Their winemaking philosophy is to express the elegant and complex varietal character from each block of the family's vineyards. The winemaker, Nolan Jones handcrafts each wine using artisan production techniques to create wines with full flavor and depth. The vineyard manager, Charlie Jones, uses sustainable vineyard practices and integrated vineyard management strategies, he strives to cultivate optimum quality fruit while protecting our environment and ensuring a healthy ecosystem.

Cava - Molí Parellada

Winemaker: Francisco Dominguez

Molí Parellada is understanding that there isn’t a rift between the big and small, but an ambition. We were born in 1987 under this philosophy, with which we have grown into a small winery in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia since that time, and with this philosophy we now look back in order to bear witness to how this intimate project has become, in effect, a concrete reality.

Campo De Borja - Bodegas Aragonesas

Winemaker: Javier Vela

Although Aragonesas Bodegas was founded in 1984, the cultivation of the vines – particularly Garnacha – stems from 1145 and the Cistercian monks of the Monastery of Veruela, located a short distance from Fuendejalón and Magallón. Our ancestors inherited this valuable and historic legacy and we, the following generations, have enriched it to reach its highest potential.

Barra of Mendocino

Winemaker: Randy Meyer

Martha Barra's foray into the wine industry began in 1980 when she married Charlie Barra, a pioneer of organic grape growing in Mendocino County. Before his passing in 2019 at the ripe age of 92, Martha worked side by side with Charlie for almost 40 years playing a pivotal role in helping build the family wine business into what it is today; over 325 acres of certified organic vineyards, two wine brands, and a 2.8 million gallon custom crush facility. Early work experience in the field of law and real estate helped Martha acquire strong business acumen that was critical to the development of the Barra family's footprint in Mendocino County.
